10 May 2019. The day I handed in my resignation letter.
As I type the letter on my MacBook Pro, I could hear my father telling me at the back of my head on how disappointed he was with me. First, for giving up a high paying job that comes with perks like free flight, medical benefits, 22 days annual leave, daily free munch and all that. Second of all, the stupidity to do this at an old ripe age of 42.
Stupidity. A behaviour that shows a lack of good sense or judgement.
Was I stupid?
Maybe to a lot of people, I was.
I mean... Who in the right mind would quit their job if they are the breadwinner in the family? Who in the right mind would quit their job if they have a 6 figure progressive interest to serve for a home loan?
Maybe... I am stupid.
But, I rather be called stupid than to give up an opportunity to build a hot sauce empire for my son and an opportunity to make my first million.
When things are being put in that perspective, I don't feel so stupid anymore.
Courage. Mental or moral strength to venture, persevere, and withstand danger, fear, or difficulty
Perseverance. Persistence in doing something despite difficulty or delay in achieving success.
The decision to quit wasn't an easy one. But with courage and perseverance, we can do anything we set to accomplish.
